This session goes through the elements of a professional book proposal and gives pointers as to what makes a proposal standout. Time: 60 minutes. Format: Lecture.

Editing and Self-Editing: Techniques to Strengthen Your Writing

This beginner’s class teaches students how to edit their own work and also how to critique someone else’s material. Time: 90-120 minutes. Format: Lecture and workshop combination. Strong emphasis on hands-on work.

Networking: Turning Contacts into Contracts

The importance of networking is discussed. Emphasis is given to networking with fellow writers and also to attending conferences. Time: 60 minutes. Format: Lecture.

Writing for the Inspirational/Devotional Markets

This class will teach students how to find and develop inspirational/devotional articles/stories drawing from personal experience events. Time: 60 minutes. Format: Lecture followed by short Q & A.

Common Writing Mistakes and How to Correct Them

This class looks at some of the most common mistakes we make as writers. The student learns to improve their writing by making simple changes in such areas as passive construction, formatting issues, POV mistakes, and seventeen other issues. Time: 60-90 minutes. Format: Lecture combined with class discussion.

The Apostle Paul Critique System

This class looks at how the apostle Paul dealt with critique in the churches he founded. The class also looks at what makes a good critique group. The longer class (90 minute session) allows for short critique sessions. Time: 60-90 minutes.

"Who Wants to Be a Millionaire Writer?”

Based on the popular TV quiz show, "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire", this class is a fun, audience participation session that tests a writer’s knowledge. Time: 60 minutes.

Lower the Bar
Using an illustration from his college track days, Wayne demonstrates that often it is necessary to lower the bar before we can raise it. Humorous and inspiring. Time: 30-50 minutes.

The True Meaning of Christmas
Originally presented for a talk honoring ministers, this seasonal speech deals with the reason for the celebration of Christ's birth. Time: 30-40 minutes.

It's not About the Money
Writers need encouragement. This keynote speech talks about the motivation needed to keep going in spite of rejection and low (or no) pay. Who are we writing for? Time: 30-40 minutes.

Rejection: How to Cope
One major drawback to writing is learning how to overcome rejection. Using humor and practical tips, this speech shows how to accept rejection as part of the writer's badge of courage. Time: 30-40 minutes.

Follow the Dream
A motivational and inspirational speech designed to take the listener back to the basics.
